Trench Light
Anti-War | Pro-Soldier/Veteran
What is Trench Light?
Trench Light is a Pittsburgh-based electro-industrial rock/metal project founded in the waning summer months of 2025 by a reclusive multi-instrumentalist known simply as Greg. The project seeks to shed light on the dangers of the military-industrial complex, share the experiences of combat vets, and spread an anti-war message while showing support for the soldiers/vets exposed to unimaginable horrors of war.
10% of profits from this project will be donated to the Gary Sinise Foundation.
Story
The actual creation of the project is a bit of a story, but here’s the nutshell version. Following a strange sequence of events, Greg rediscovered his passion for music and navigated the tidal wave of pent up inspiration which followed. After an intense month riddled with forgetting to eat, go outside, and sleep, he emerged from his darkened man-cave with a pile of tracks which he thought could loosely be described as music. He whittled the pile down to 10 tracks, focused his vision for the project, and then added limited public domain vocal audio clips to 6 of them while keeping the rest completely instrumental. Thus, a seed for the idea of an album was planted. It would eventually be given the name, “Creature of the Night.”
This title was initially meant as a representation of himself since he wrote the album nearly entirely between sunset and sunrise. However, he also later gave it as a title to a track with a slightly different meaning in mind. The track, which features the interview of a Vietnam vet named Edward Duane Bryant, uses the title as an artistic nod to the voices he started hearing after experiencing combat. Greg found this interview to be so extremely powerful, he decided the album and track title was no longer a reference to himself, but, instead, to the memory of Edward Duane Bryant (passed away in 2021).
However, at this point, Greg was unsure of if what he created could be considered objectively, “good.” There was even a brief period of time he considered just sitting on the tracks. However, after watching some interviews of Trent Reznor (NIN), he realized it didn’t matter if the tracks were inherently, “good.” It mattered if they meant something to him. With the answer being a resounding, “Yes, these feel like the most important thing I’ve ever done with my life,” he mustered up the courage to approach legendary mixing/mastering engineer Brendan Dekora (NIN, Muse, Foo Fighters, etc, etc) with his demo of, “Forging Empires.”
With Brendan mixing and mastering the whole album, he realized it was all systems go and started working on artwork which would eventually become the album cover and project logo. The album was released in October 2025 through his independent record label using CD Baby as the distributor.
For Greg, the success of this project is not measured in dollars, but, instead, if it had a positive effect on those who listened to it. Even if it is literally 1 person. So, if you feel like it had a positive impact on you, feel free to send a message to one of the Trench Light’s social media pages. It would put a smile on that lone wolf’s face.
